Bjelland positions the familiar hand-soap dispenser as a compact symbol of contemporary consumer culture. Through the language of advertising and the aesthetics of luxury packaging, the work examines how branding manufactures desire for objects we scarcely questioned before three decades of lifestyle marketing. It reveals how even the most mundane products become participants in our performance of self. The rise of premium liquid soap—now displayed beside scented candles and reed diffusers as markers of taste—becomes a lens through which Bjelland reflects on personal identity and domestic aspiration. My house, my car, my soap!
