Katharina Bjelland (* 1979) is a German visual artist based in Stavanger, Norway. Bjelland explores the daily middle class struggle of balancing work, domestic labour and leisure with the underlying pressure of trying to raise our standard of living within a consumer-driven culture. Working with found materials, text, print, and sculpture, she deconstructs single-use packaging and everyday branding to highlight how consumption shapes our choices, ambitions, and daily lives.
Bjelland graduated from ‘Kunstskolen i Stavanger’ in 2021. She also holds a Master’s degree in business administration from Germany and has lived in London and Shanghai before moving to Stavanger with her young family. She thrives in an international art environment, having assisted Cory Arcangel on the launch of his flagship store Arcangel Surfware as well as working for Kunsthall Stavanger, Norway.
